ART - Invisible WritingStudents will learn about the art form of invisible writing. They will learn about different photography techniques, specifically long exposure. Finally, students will engage in basic coding skills.
ART - Sphero and PollackThis lesson was focused on Jackson Pollock's technique to create art. My 5th grade students learned about primary, secondary and tertiary colors and their combination to create different colors. Students created a JP replica by utilizing Sphero robots to create art.
ART - Sphero ArtUse Sphero and a variety of Nubby covers to create masterpieces of Acryllic art!
CODING - Sphero MazeStudents program the Sphero to complete the maze. When the Sphero rolls over a color printed Sphero, their Sphero needs to change to that color. When the Sphero rolls over a music note the Sphero must play music. This can be done a race, students block code the Sphero through the maze, completing the task. The shortest time wins. If the Sphero misses a color change or music note, add 1 second. If the Sphero goes outside of the white track add .5 seconds to the final time.
Library Hour of Code ChallengeStudents will work though coding challenges while in the library. Once students complete the challenge, they will know to code within the Sphero EDU app for Sphero so they can design their own coding project!
MATH - Bowling for FractionsGo bowling with Sphero to determine fractions, identify largest fractions and create equivalent fractions from the number of pins knocked down.
MATH - Right Angle WritingStudents create letters using Spheros. In the process, they will draw, walk, code, create and watch a variety of different right angles.
MATH - Time, Speed and DistanceStudents will use Sphero to show that there is a linear relationship between time, speed, and distance. They will program Sphero to move at a particular speed for a particular amount of time, and then measure how far it has gone. They will use division to find the relationships between time, speed, and distance. Finally, they will be given a challenge to take what they’ve learned and to have Sphero return to the place where it started.
Meet Sphero BOLTIn this activity you will get to know Sphero BOLT. Watch the videos to learn about BOLT's 8x8 LED matrix, compass sensor, ambient light sensor and infrared sensors. Be sure to click on the links to the other activities to learn even more about BOLT and how to program with each new feature.
SOCIAL STUDIES - Medeival JoustingStudents will design 3d printable jousters using the Tinkerplay App and will do battle to try to unseat their opponents.
SOCIAL STUDIES - Revolutionary WarSphero wants to reenact a Revolutionary War battle. Will the Colonies win their freedom or will they continue under the tyranny of the king?
SOCIAL STUDIES - Sphero Goes WestHelp your pioneer family migrate west. Build a wagon that will hitch to Sphero and race your way west!
